Water Water Water Everywhere

We love the water and anytime I can canoe, kayak, jet skit. (not so much) or boat on the water I'm in. Some great lakes to play on or hike near. Of course S.C. has a plentiful stock of lakes. These are but a handful. Most of our lakes were created by the dams so that means there are trees under them waves. Be careful when jumping in, fishing, or motor boating.

LAKES
  • BONNEAU Beach - ON LAKE MOULTRIE
  • LAKE MOULTRIE - near Moncks Corner. You can put in at Bonneau and fish near the damn.
  • LAKE MARION - near Columbia
  • Lake Murray - north of Columbia
  • Lake Greenwood -
  • LAKE KEOWEE- located near Seneca SC this pristine lake is clear warm and beautiful. VRBO is a great way to get direct access. Many VRBo's have their own small kayaks and rafts to swim on in the lake.
  • Lake Jocassee - This pristine lake is privately owned by the Electrical Company. It sports plentiful waterfalls and warms up quickly in the summer. I saw my first loon here.
  • LAKE HARTLEY (NEAR CLEMSON) - A very large lake that branches into Georgia.
RIVERS of Charleston

  • Ashley River - runs west of Charleston peninsula up towards Summerville
  • Cooper River - runs east of Charleston peninsula up towards Moncks Corner
  • Wando River - runs east of Cooper River. Headwaters in the Francis Marion Forest.
  • Stono River - separates West Ashley from John's Island. Runs from Kiawah to Seabrook.
